Titanic Anchored off Rochas Point

11th April, 1912 at the anchorage, Queenstown, Eire just off Rochas Point with two tenders, “Ireland” and “America”. As a passenger tender was passing the stern of a blackened figure could be seen emerging from the fourth funnel. A gasp went round the passengers, some saying it was the “Angel of Death” and a bad omen. In fact it was a coal-blackened stoker who had climbed the inside the dummy funnel in order to get a birds eye view of the scenes below.
